The Black Sea where the twins 'civilization' and 'barbarism' celebrated their first confrontation, quoting Geert Mak (Dutch historical writer). The coast itself, worn and silent, speaks of the patience of rocks, sand and water that experienced the restlessness of people, and still survives. Along the coast intriguing cultures coexist and melt. I am interested in the relationship of the sea with humans and their environment. They are mystically connected. Through several photo-essays depicting 'spaces of coexistence', I investigate cultural, social and economical tensions of the region.
